My name is James Anthony Ford and I am a scriptwriter, screenwriter and university qualified journalist.  I am based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Currently I am pursuing a Master of Arts (Script writing and journalism) through Swinburne University on a part time basis to allow time to pursue my scriptwriting and journalism projects.

I also hold a Bachelor Fine Art and a Bachelor of Communication.

A bit about my history....

My passion of film and cinema all started as a child who was intrigued by not just the big screen but the story behind it.  In later years in secondary school, my love of film-making ambitiously led to creating a little film, similar to a music video with a strong emphasis on narrative.  This project in fact won a Student film award back in the early 1990s.  Following this I gained valuable work experience working at ABC Studios (Melbourne, Australia) in the visual design department.

Naturally this further developed my passion for film and fed my intrigue about telling unique and original stories on the big or small screen.

After graduating secondary school I traveled the world, learnt to speak both German and Japanese, then went on to pursue a career in advertising.  Whilst working in this creative field, I was also in the process of making experimental video art and writing.

 

After several years of a successful career in advertising I decided to delve into the academic world to complete a double Arts degree in visual art and journalism.  Today (from 2016 to current) I am studying towards a Master of screenwriting.

Combining both my love of visual art and and influence of cinema, I also had several solo and group art exhibitions from 2013 to 2016 showcasing a range of works as shadow and assemblage installations.

 

Since then my focus began to tune into writing more scripts for films, whether they be feature films, short film or television pilots.

My work ethic influences me to also produce several scripts at the one time which I find to be both motivating, exciting and allows me to diversify between projects.

Most recently I have published two books, one which is inspired by actual events and the other a fiction suspense novel.
